Meaglow Ltd. is pleased to have recently received this award from the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre, the RBC Royal Bank, and the many other sponsors involved. The other nominees this year were of an exceptionally high caliber, which made the award all the more satisfying. As a small company we have been working diligently for the last ten years offering the semiconductor industry a new range of patented gas plasma sources – hollow cathode gas plasma sources. These come with a significant reduction in oxygen contamination compared to old older legacy sources. This means that our customers have been able to deposit purer semiconductor, ceramic and metal layers. Over 100 units have now been produced locally in Thunder Bay, Canada.
To help keep its overheads to a minimum, Meaglow operates out of Thunder Bay using local machine shops. There is enough excess machining time amongst the local operators that we can often service custom plasma source designs in under 30 days, which is good because a considerable proportion of our clients want some level of customization. While we outsource manufacture locally, we maintain in-house design, assembly and quality control. This model has allowed us to thrive while offering low priced, high quality offerings to our customers. One of the recent highlights we have had has been supplying the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center with a miniature plasma source that is scheduled to go into space for testing there in upcoming months (see this link).

Another recent innovation of Meaglow has been the development of new carbon capture technology, which we hope to further highlight in future posts.
