It took seven years to get to the first 50 units sold, but only three years after that to get to 100 units, and now two years later we’re beyond 150 units produced with sales in 16 different countries. This includes seven units 12 inches in diametre or greater. Says Dr. Scott Butcher, our Chief Scientist:

“The biggest change we’ve seen over the last 12 years is the increased interest from ALD equipment manufacturers. Our two biggest customers are now Anric Technologies from the US and Nainsol from South Korea, both equipment manufacturers, but there are also sales to Okyay Tech, Angstrom Engineering, CN1, ISAC, and other manufacturers including some that we have NDAs with. The other thing that’s happened is the interest from Silicon Valley, we’ve now carried out two lengthy research projects with entities from there, and separately we’ve seen sales of several of our units to LAM Research through Anric Technologies. After a lull of many years since the 2008 crash, it’s good to see an innovative investment streak returning to Silicon Valley.”

Other highlights over the last 12 years have included winning the Innovative Company of the Year in 2023 for Northwest Ontario from the RBC bank; helping NASA develop a miniature ALD system for space flight experiments; working with NASA Goddard on a custom made ALD system, and developing a new form of carbon capture that will be spun out as a separate company later this year. As a small company we have happily grown in number of technologists, sales, and innovation, and will continue to do so.
